EMS 2018 is a fully embedded add-in to SOLIDWORKS and Autodesk Inventor. The 2018 release comes with several new features and updates:

Enhancement in the AC resistance and induction calculations
In AC Magnetic analysis, due to the skin and proximity effects, the inductance and resistance of a coil are different from DC. EMS takes both effects into consideration and accurately computes the resistance and inductance matrices. Figure 1 shows the resistance results computed by EMS compared to published data in TEAM problem 15.

Enhancement in structural coupling
AC Magnetic and Electrostatic modules can now be fully coupled to Structural Analysis. Figure 2 shows the deformation in a MEMS comb actuator.

Improvement of the circuit parameters computation
Inductance, impedance, resistance, flux linkage, and induced voltage are now computed faster and more acccurately.

New Thermal Stress coupling
HFWorks 2018 can now compute structural deformation due to thermal stress caused by high frequency losses. Figure 4 shows the deformation of a straight waveguide.

Enhacement of Thermal Analysis
Thermal results generated by HFWorks 2018 are now computed faster and more acccurately. Figure 5 shows a tempreture distrubution of a double ridge waveguide at a power of 250 kw

Adaptive Mesh Refinement
HFWorks 2018 now supports adaptive meshing. Figure 6 shows an adapted mesh of a coax to a waveguide transition.

EMWorks 2D
EMWorks 2D is a whole new package for 2D Electromagnetic simulation. EMWorks 2D is fully embeded in SOLIDWORKS. Beta version starts on Feb 5, 2018. If you are interested in trying the Beta version, please send a request to beta@emworks.com.
