Permanent magnets play a vital role in the field of electromagnetics. Some applications of permanent magnets include motors, magnetic circuits, lifting and separating devices, NDT crawler wheels, and voice coil speakers. With a rapid move towards electrification, more and more innovative products use permanent magnets extensively.

Join this webinar to learn how to perform an electromagnetic simulation in SOLIDWORKS and EMS using an application of permanent magnets. We will use the magnetostatic solver to demonstrate the computation of the holding force in a magnetic wheel. Parametric simulation will be used to study the holding forces for various thickness of the rubber coating used in the magnetic wheel.

In this webinar, we will explore

  • how to set up a magnetic study in EMS for SOLIDWORKS

  • how to define and use Permanent magnets

  • how to visualize the computed holding force for various values of a parameter

  • how to look at magnetic flux density and identify areas of saturation in the model
