The Multi physics Anlyses using EMS inside SOLIDWORKS

EMS STRUCTURAL SIMULATION OF MAGNETIC MICRO-ACTUATOR DESIGN FOR TACTILE DISPLAY

A variety of developed actuation mechanisms are used for the reproduction of tactile sensation in haptic devices. In this application note, the proposed tactile micro-actuator (Figure 1) is based on Micro-magneto-mechanical systems. It allows high deflection of its deformable active surfaces under high magnetic forces. Hence, the use of a high mechanically resistant elastomeric material, was successfully processed as an alternative to classical PDMS, in such tactile applications. Figure 2 shows the displacement of the membrane of the studied system.

MULTI PHYSICS SIMULATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE WELDING PROCESS INSIDE EMS

Magnetic pulse welding (MPW) process is an innovative, high speed forming technology, widely used in aerospace and automobile industries. This technique can be compared to explosion welding, however, instead of explosives, it uses a magnetic force to accelerate the objects.
Electromagnetic simulation coupled to thermal analysis is performed to study the heating effect during the MPW welding process. A case study consists of a one turn coil combined with a field shaper. This article will show the multi physics capabilities of EMS to solve an electromagnetic and thermal problem in time domain using the EMS transient module. Figure 3 shows the simulated model. The temperature distribution for the tube during first half period of the impulse current is shown in Figure 4. It shows the region highlighted for the sudden increase in temperature during the collision
